Rachel Allen is at home in Ireland for this stunning new series as she indulges her passion – and ours – for sweet things.

Her recipes for desserts, cakes and confectionery feature everything from show-stopping dinner party finales to impressive afternoon tea goodies and include irresistible children’s treats that are just as enticing to adults!

Rachel puts a tasty twist on some classic dishes to show how even the most traditional desserts can be given a tantalising new lease of life, reveals how even a home-cooked treat can whisk our taste buds off to far-flung lands and reveals some sweet-making secrets that would put Willy Wonka to shame!

There’s no need to worry about how to recreate these mouth-watering morsels at home, as each episode features a ‘Tricks of the Trade’ strand alongside the recipes, filmed on location at the famous Ballymaloe Cookery School. In these, Rachel shares professional techniques designed to help everyone get perfect results too.

Dublin-born Rachel Allen is the Emerald Isle’s leading culinary talent. From baking and hearty family feasts to candlelit suppers, she makes cooking a stress-free, fun and delicious affair!

As a young girl, Rachel was more geared up to follow her parents into the fashion trade rather than finding fame as a feast-concocting foodie. Her Irish father, Brian O'Neill, owned a shoe factory and her Icelandic mother, Hallfridur Reichenfeld, ran her own clothes boutiques. And Rachel fancied herself as a footwear visionary.

But at the age of 18, Rachel ditched her designs to enter the fashion industry and she joined the ranks of aspiring chefs at the prestigious Ballymaloe Cookery School in County Cork, founded by the famous gastronome and TV presenter Darina Allen.

Rachel didn’t only discover her love of food at Ballymaloe Cookery School; she also found true love with Isaac, the dashing son of Darina Allen. The couple married in 1998, share three children (Luka, Joshua and Scarlett) and are both passionate professional foodies – Isaac is a chef and restaurateur.

In 2004 she was snapped-up by the Irish broadcaster RTÉ to front her own cookery show, Rachel’s Favourite Food. It was a runaway hit and spawned the follow-up series Rachel’s Favourite Food for Friends and Rachel's Favourite Food At Home, both of which have been sold overseas and gained her international success.

Alongside her TV projects, Rachel teaches courses at Ballymaloe Cookery School, writes for such publications as The Sunday Tribune newspaper and BBC Good Food magazine and has hit a home run with five bestselling cookery books of her own.
